...the Hellenic nation ...in the days of king Deukalion inhabited the land of Fthia, then in the time of Doros
(son) of Hellen the country called Istiaiotis, under Ossa and Olympos. Forced to retire from Istiaiotis by the Kadmeians, it settled about Pindos under the name Makednon. Thence again it migrated to Dryopis, and at last came from Dryopis into Peloponnesos where it took the name Dorian.
